Mernie has been working professionally as an artist for over 25 years. She received a BA in Art from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1977 and continued studies at the California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland. Mernie worked for Tony Devroude & Associates Interior Architects when she created the design for the front entrance floor of the Las Vegas Hilton in 1980. She has painted murals at the San Francisco Zoo, the San Francisco Airport, Community Youth Center in Concord, and has transformed commercial & residential spaces throughout the Bay Area and Las Vegas.

Mernie is also an accomplished scenic artist, and has painted stage sets for over 40 San Francisco Bay Area theater productions. Big River in Suisun won the Ellie (Northern CA Theater) Award for best stage set in 1992. Recently Mernie has painted Aida and Cabaret at the Willows Theatre in Concord , CA. Mernie's next show for the Willows is 1776, which opens in May of 2006.

Mernie's oil, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media paintings are collected internationally and hang in numerous private and corporate collections. She is represented by:
