The Money Series

From 1997-2000 I painted the Baroque co co series, inspired by the lush organic forms of the Italian decorative arts. At one point I looked closely at a dollar bill and noticed the edges. Older US currency is decorated with wonderful engravings that blow up into fantastical forms. The Money Series was painted using watercolor, airbrushed inks and colored pencils.

ACRYLIC PAINTINGS
The 'Fountains & Figures, Flowers & Fruit' series from 2003-04 are acrylic & watercolor 'snapshots' of images from travel to Newport RI, Paris, France, Maui, Molokai and the Mexican Yucatan, as well as sun kissed images from Mernie's prolific garden. A couple of Saints and Madonnas also dropped into the studio to pose with the still lifes.
